We stayed at the Las
Vegas RV Resort which is one of the few sites in our huge Trailer Life
catalogue to have a 10-10-10 rating. The site is excellent and the view with
the mountains behind is quite something.
|
Many RVs tow an ancillary vehicle behind. This seemed a little over the top
- but this is Las Vegas... |
Class A motorhomes are
huge and expensive (especially the diesels), but some have a toy box behind.
The triple axle indicates this is a heavy unit. It is colour coordinated and
the whole rig must be well over $1M.
|
Next to the last unit was this one with twin(tag) axles and three slideouts.
The diesel engine is 500HP and it obviously also had a tow-behind. There
must have been over 20 $1M units on the site at any point in time. |
Of course there were some
smaller units like this 'Bigfoot' caravan. It is still bigger than our unit
in Europe. | |
|
But for many this was the star unit on the site. The caravan is known as an
egg and it was towed by a Mini Cooper. |
Both units were
registered in Switzerland. Sadly we never got to talk to them but they
ranked as one of the more intrepid travellers we have seen.
|
The resort is next door to Sam's Town casino which has its own RV sites on
either side. It is about half an hour from the Strip and operates a free
hourly shuttle to the centre. |
The site entrance looks
as smart and tidy as the site. Despite the fact it is bordered by a major
four-lane highway it was incredibly quiet. And for once we had no railroad
nearby to keep Jan awake.
