Squirrels are known to be
friendly but this little fellah would have been inside the RV if we had
given him half a chance. He appeared just as we were packing up to leave the
campsite. | |

Southern Idaho was supposed to be potato country, but we only found grain
and grain silos. There is a long straight road with this one apparently in
the middle of the road but at the last moment it veers off to one side. |
Mostly the terrain is
dead flat and reminiscent of Kansas. It isn't all grain, there are large
areas growing nothing of significance.
|
But the grain needs irrigation and there is lots of it. Mostly the spray
booms are on wheels and are driven slowly round in an arc by the water
pressure. This field has been ploughed, sown and irrigated in complete
circles, leading to this striking pattern. |
They do grow wine in
Washington State to the west and in British Columbia to the north at
Kelowna, but we didn't know there is a significant industry presence in
Idaho. But we never saw any vines.

Multiple trailers are permitted in several western states but this is the
first time we had seen a rig like this being hauled by a pickup. |
This is a bit out of
sequence. We stopped off in Boise to visit the daughter of our hosts in
Phoenix. They had a busy weekend when this cat (an ex-stray) suddenly gave
birth (in the youngest child's bed) and their rabbit also gave birth. Both
were unexpected. The kittens survived but the rabbits died, probably from
the very cold weather. | |
