2800 miles this month, rather more than we would
usually do, but this is a year for long distances. We slowed down towards the
end of the month with stays at Fairbanks, Denali, Anchorage and down on the
Kenai peninsula. We have also experienced long hours of daylight which
necessitated the construction of blackout blinds for the bedroom windows and
skylights. The sun didn't set until after midnight and was up again by 0230hrs.
The downside comes in the winter.
We have also had minor troubles with the RV engine
which we finally solved with a plug change. Long overdue perhaps but it does
seem to run better now. Very little in the way of gravel roads except on the Top
of the World and Taylor highways between Dawson City and Tok. But there have
been problematic sections with frost heave.
Next month will see us heading back south. |
