1700 miles this month although it doesn't seem like it. That is because we
did over a third of that in the first couple of days getting back from the CDSS
dance camp at Pinewoods MA to our base at Springville. A few days of maintenance
and we collected our friends Dawn & Allan who had come over from Europe. We went
to Niagara, the Finger Lakes and the Catskills en route to a time-share at
Bushkill in the Delaware Water Gap NRA. After a week there we dropped them off
at relatives near Scranton and went to the Promised Land State Park just up the
road to recuperate and wait till they decided how to return to JFK. It was my
fault they came in that way and I would now never recommend anybody to attempt
to travel to/from JFK except by air. The only route is straight across the
middle of New York. Not in a 32ft RV! They finally got a lift to Newark airport
and caught a shuttle. We are all wiser!
We virtually went the same way to visit Longwood Gardens just to the west of
Philadelphia. We had wanted to do this earlier in the year but could not fit it
in. We will be back again because it is well worth a visit. We end the month in
a state park on the banks of the Susquehanna River, the boundary between
Lancaster and York counties and deep in Amish country.
The weather has stayed fine and Fall is only just reaching this area. We will
be heading north again next week. |
