We were still in Yosemite at the beginning of August. My brother and his
family were coming to meet us so we just had a few days to get to the coast. But
we did have time for a quick visit to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.
Again we couldn't travel through because of the length of the RV. So we
backtracked and headed for Oceano where my brother joined us. From there we
travelled up the California coast to San Francisco. This is supposed to be very
beautiful but we seemed to have fog all the way which apparently is a common
hazard at this time of year.
My brother departed after a week and we commenced a bizarre trip to
Toronto to meet other friends from England. We had a few days' leeway so we
chose to travel across Nevada via US50, a very beautiful but very empty
area. We stayed off the interstates after Salt Lake City as well and cut
across country to the Rocky Mountain National Park just outside Denver. We
spent a few days there then set off to cross the plains of Nebraska, Iowa,
Illinois and Indiana using interstates to maximize our speed of travel.
Finally we crossed Ohio and Pennsylvania to reach Springville in New York
and the halfway point in our travels. We did pause at Cleveland, Ohio to
catch the Bodyworks II exhibition which was well worth the stop.
We did the really silly mileage of 3600 miles in this month. One might
consider we were mad and I'm not sure we would do the same again, but that
is another story. |
