This site recounts the travels, trials, experiences and images formed by us (Rick & Jan) on our travels in North America in a Recreational vehicle during 2004/12. The South Riding is a mythical fourth Riding (a third) of the county of Yorkshire in England. The area encompassed includes the major steel town of Sheffield which is where we come from and the northern end of the Peak District of Derbyshire which contains some wonderful walking country. The name also features in the title of a literary work by Winifred Holtby. Our link comes in the South Riding Folk Network which supports the folk arts in the area. Our interest is in dance and it is our intention to dance in as many states and styles as we can during our year long tour of North America. |
